MABEE, Sarah Isabelle – Born in Toronto, September 11, 1923, died peacefully at the Woodstock Hospital on Friday, April 26, 2019 in her 96th year. Sarah attended the Toronto Normal Model School. She came to Woodstock in 1936. She attended Central School and Woodstock Collegiate Institute. Sarah will be fondly remembered by nieces, Gwen Quarrington of Winchester, Ontario, Cathy (Bruce) Farrer of Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, Sharon (Gary) Sawyer of Innisfil, Ontario, and nephew Roy (Teresa) Ham of Keswick, Ontario. She will be missed by several grandnieces and grandnephews. Her adopted family will also miss her; Don and Margaret Bickell and family, Marion and Ron Church and family, and the family of the late Bill and Rita Bickell. Also remembering Sarah, are her special friends Barb Mosley, Zena Rutter, Cheryl West, and Lorelei Benny and all the members of Khaki Chapter #27, Order of the Eastern Star. Sarah was predeceased by her mother, Vera (Tiny) Mabee (1967), her father Roy Mabee (1977), half-brother Harold (Pearl) Ham (1995), half-sister Jean (Jim) (2013), and a very dear friends, Helen Bickell (2004) and Velma Bickell (2013). Sarah was a life member, and a 72-year member of the Khaki Chapter #27, Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a 23-year member of the Rainbow-Dove, Grand Representatives Association. Sarah was a Life and Charter Member of Unity Shrine #14, then became a member at Large of Supreme White Shrine of Jerusalem #1. She also was a life member and 59-year member of Rose Rebekah Lodge #43 – now Floreat Rebekah Lodge #283. Sarah was a member of the Woodstock Hospital Auxiliary and College Avenue United Church. The family will receive friends at COLLEGE AVENUE UNITED CHURCH, 22 Wilson Street St., Woodstock on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 11:00 am – 12:45 pm. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 12:45. A complete funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Lloyd Bennett officiating. Cremation to follow with an interment of ashes in Welcome United Church Cemetery, Port Hope, Ontario at a later date. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made VON Sakura House or the Woodstock Hospital Foundation.
